A woman revealed she was left in shock after her mother accidentally hired a stripper to perform at her birthday party back when she was still a child.
32-year-old Julia Duggan from Maine, New England, took her TikTok followers by surprise as she shared a hilarious story from her childhood.
According to the pharmacist, her mother organized a Barbie-themed birthday party for her when she turned five years old. For the occasion, she also hired a Barbie dancer listed under the Entertainers section of her phonebook.
What the mom didn’t realize, however, was that the performer was actually a stripper.
“The woman shows up, and she’s a stripper, and I love her. She played along. She did not take off her clothes. I followed her around, thrilled that Barbie came to my birthday party, and all of the parents there had a really good laugh,” Julia explained.
“I just remember holding her hand and walking around. I was starstruck.”
Julia went on to say that she didn’t realize what kind of performer Barbie at her party was until she looked back at her old photos when she was already in high school.
“Before we moved, my mother and I were looking at old photos and I was like ‘Uh, what kind of Barbie did you hire for my birthday?’ and my mom was like, ‘Oh, it’s an interesting story,’” she added.
After her story went viral, Julia was inundated with comments, and hundreds of people shared similar stories of their own.
“My parents hired a clown for my birthday (80s) and he was super late and showed up drunk. The adults let the show go on so we wouldn’t be disappointed,” someone wrote.
“I think this might have happened a lot from Yellow Page finds… my parents found a strip club an accidentally took us kids there!” another said.
A third recalled: “My mom accidentally ordered the spice channel in place of a Spice Girls concert on pay per view once.”
