A couple broke down in tears after they got married as they lost thousands of dollars when more than half of their wedding guests failed to show up.
Gray Narvaez-Dragion and her husband Nyx Narvaez’s shared a glimpse of their empty ballroom on TikTok, amassing over four million views.
The viral clip showed a deserted dance floor and empty round tables, leaving the newlyweds dismayed.
“88 people said yes… not even 40 showed up,” Gray captioned the video.
The couple revealed that they spent $27,000 as many of their relatives and friends RSVP’d yes.
“We literally sat in the empty ceremony room together and cried,” Gray expressed.
They also claimed that they had to cut the reception short as there were not many people in attendance so they missed out on private dance and their sparkler sendoff.
Much of the food, including their wedding cake and a grand charcuterie table, were left untouched.
Narvaez-Dragion also said that they spent money on making magnets, soaps, and ‘spell jars’ for their guests to take home but they will have to keep most of them.
“Looking at our magnets makes me bawl … I can’t even use my custom-made soap samples because that makes me cry too,” she wrote in the comments section.
“Why didn’t they show up? I spent so much f***ing time trying to make everyone feel included,” she added.
Despite their disappointment, the couple were grateful for those who turned up to the gathering.
Viewers were quick to support the frustrated couple, with one person saying: “My heart breaks for you guys; no one deserves this. Just know everyone here on TikTok is celebrating you two!”
Another said: “If I have a wedding, this video has inspired me to put fine print stating if they say yes to RSVP and don’t show, they have to pay a space and food fee.”
