A mother and father came under fire on social media after leaving a restaurant without cleaning up the mess their children made.
The incident took place in Australia where a restaurant patron took a picture of a huge mess that was allegedly created and left behind by a family with young children.
According to their complaint, the kids threw food all over the place before leaving without cleaning up after themselves. To make matters worse, their parents didn’t say a thing nor did they try to clean up or apologize.
“Is this OK now? Family at local pub let their kid fling food all over the place and made zero attempt to stop them, then left it for staff to clean up,” the person who shared the photo wrote.
In the picture, one can see several dozen pieces of food scattered all over the floor – around the chairs and under the table.
After the photo went viral, hundreds of people weight in on the matter with the majority of them condemning the family and expressing frustration over the parents and their refusal to discipline their kids or clean up after them.
“Makes me wonder what their homes are like. Do they let their kids do this at home?” someone pondered.
“My kids have been those kids dropping food everywhere (not deliberately) and I have been on my hands and knees in more than one venue cleaning it up waving off the staff who kept offering to do it,” another said.
A third wrote: “I’m a mum and find this disgusting. I’m not even a strict parent, but I would leave if my kids weren’t in a mood to sit and behave.”
Some people, however, didn’t think the parents did anything wrong.
“It’s not okay, but at the same time it’s not out of the norm to need to clean up after children in hospitality, just a part of the job,” one viewer suggested.
Some also said that the customers were paying well enough to be allowed to leave without cleaning up after themselves and that this was all part of the staff’s workload.
