‘My Parents REFUSE To Pay $114,000 A Year For My Children’s School And I’m Worried Their Education Will Be Ruined’

A mother has expressed her frustration on social media after her parents refused to pay $114,000 (£90,000) a year for her children’s school.

In a post shared by ‘the I newspaper,’ the mother said that she has three children who are in Year 7, Year 9, and Year 12.

All of them have been attending the same private school and the school costs $12,000 per term. This meant that one year for one child cost $38,000 or $114,000 a year for all three children.

The frustrated mom said that she and her husband don’t pay for her daughters’ school fees as her parents already pay for them.

She explained that her parents told them that they would pay for private school when her first child was born.

When her two other daughters arrived, her parents agreed to pay for them too but they have decided to discontinue now as they can no longer afford it.

The frustrated mom knows that it is not her parents’ fault but she can’t help but feel ‘resentment’ toward them.

The mom also said that she doesn’t want to pull her daughters out as they are ‘thriving’ at the school.

She also revealed that her mom is in the early stages of Altheimer’s and her father is ‘panicking about the future’ as his wife may need special care.

Even though she understands the situation, she admitted that she was left furious as she would have no other choice but to take her daughters out of the private school.

“I feel heartbroken about it, and also about the resentment I feel towards my parents, who I know don’t deserve it,” she continued.

The mom continued: “Perhaps we should have sent them to a normal school all along, and stayed within the limits of our own finances. I’m saying all this because I know lots of people whose parents or in-laws pay the school fees, and while grandparents’ generosity is amazing, it can also go wrong.”
