The Duke of Sussex wanted to interview Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Mark Zuckerberg about their childhood traumas and upbringing.
According to reports, Prince Harry and Meghan’s deal with Spotify has been axed, with the couple’s production company Archewell Audio releasing a statement announcing that they had ‘mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.’
The father-of-two also wanted to discuss religion with Pope Francis, leaving Spotify executives scratching their heads, Bloomberg reported.
This came after Spotify executive Bill Simmons’ called the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ‘f***** grifters’ and the Suits alum was accused of faking interviews.
Harry reportedly had no plans to have a show centered on fatherhood but said he would like to discuss societal issues.
His podcast team then started to question his ideas, especially the practicality of interviewing his desired guests.
It was in late 2020 when the Sussexes signed a $20 million deal with Spotify but sources claim the couple failed to meet the productivity benchmark required to receive the full amount.
But Meghan is still plans to continue her podcasts and find another platform for her series.
Simmons, Spotify’s head of podcast innovation and monetization, slammed the couple in his own podcast and called them ‘f****** grifters.’
“That’s the podcast we should have launched with them,” he said. “I’ve got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.”
Simmons has long been critical of the Sussexes. In January, he blasted the Duke and said it was ‘embarrassing’ to be affiliated with the same company.
He said: “Shoot this guy to the sun. I’m so tired of this guy. What does he bring to the table? He just whines about s*** and keeps giving interviews. Who gives a s***? Who cares about your life?”
“You weren’t even the favourite son. You live in f****** Montecito and you just sell documentaries and podcasts and nobody cares what you have to say about anything unless you talk about the Royal Family and you just complain about them.”
