Priscilla Presley has filed legal documents challenging her late daughter Lisa Marie Presley’s will.
The singer passed away on January 12 after suffering a cardiac arrest at her California home.
Even though her heart was restarted by CPR, she died in the hospital at the age of 54. The official cause of death was reportedly deferred by the Los Angeles County Coroner.
Lisa Marie is survived by her three daughters – 14-year-old twins Finley and Harper Lockwood and Riley Keough, 33 – and granddaughter after Riley gave birth to a baby girl in 2022.
She was laid to rest at Graceland alongside her father, Elvis Presley, and her son Benjamin, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 27.
After her mother’s death, Riley was set to become a co-trustee of her trust alongside Benjamin but his death made her the lone trustee.
Lisa Marie’s mother, Priscilla, has now filed legal documents challenging the will, claiming that ‘there are many issues surrounding’ it and that a judge should declare it invalid, according to Entertainment Tonight.
The news outlet detailed how the grieving mother filed paperworks contesting the will after she found out that Benjamin and Riley were to be co-trustees upon Lisa Marie’s death after an amendment was made in 2016.
Before the 2016 amendment, Priscilla claims that she and her daughter’s former business manager, Barry Siegel, had been appointed co-trustees in 1993.
Priscilla also said that this happened when Lisa Marie “executed a revocable living trust, which she amended and completely restated on January 27, 2010.”
She also said that “Both the 1993 original trust and 2010 restatement appear to be carefully drafted by competent estate planning attorneys.”
The grandmother claims “there are many issues surrounding the authenticity and validity of the purported 2016 amendment,” such as Priscilla’s name was misspelled and that the amendment was “never delivered to her during Lisa Marie Presley’s lifetime as required by the express terms of the Trust.”
