Raspberries singer Eric Carmen, famous for hits All By Myself and Hungry Eyes, has passed away at the age of 74.
The devastating news was confirmed by his wife, Amy, whom he tied the knot with in 2016.
In a heartbreaking statement, the newscaster said: “It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen. Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep, over the weekend.”
Amy continued: “It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy. Please respect the family’s privacy as we mourn our enormous loss.”
She then referenced his 1997 hit, Love Is All That Matters, and concluded her statement with the lyrics: “Love Is all That Matters… Faithful and Forever.”
Eric gained popularity after he released Go All The Away with the band Raspberries, which rose in the early 1970s and drew inspirations from bands like Small Faces, The Beatles, The Hollies, and The Who.
The pop rock band’s most popular songs include Tonight, Let’s Pretend, Overnight Sensation, and I Wanna Be With You. But after five years, members decided to separate ways professionally.
Eric’s cause of death is still unknown as of this writing.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
