Most people have been surprised to learn that late actor Robin Williams was paid only $75,000 instead of $8 million for his role in the Disney classic movie Aladdin.
Williams, who passed away in 2014 at the age of 63, played the role of Genie in the film, which has since been portrayed by Will Smith in the 2019 live-action remake.
Even though his paycheck was lower than what he used to charged, it was revealed that he was paid only $75,000.

But there was a reason why the father-of-three decided to sacrifice the money for the role.
Williams, who appeared in many childhood favorites including Flubber, the Night At The Museum trilogy, and Mrs. Doubtfire, revealed that he accepted the low paycheck because he just wanted to be a part of the animation tradition and leave something behind for his kids.
But according to Screen Rant, he only had one condition – that his voice would not be used as a marketing tool for Disney.
However, the company did not stick to the end of the bargain and Williams refused to return for the 1994 sequel.
For the sequel, Genie was voiced by Dan Castellaneta, who was the voice of Homer Simpsons.
The production company reportedly apologized by sending Williams a $1 million Picasso painting but the actor said it came before the violation of their agreement.
“The thing is they didn’t give me a Picasso as a payback for violating the agreement,” Williams told the Toronto Sun.
“The Picasso came first, then they violated the agreement, then we broke off the marriage. Then they apologized, and that was all I wanted.”
After the apology, Williams appeared again in the 1996 Aladdin film.
