27-year-old Angel Craine of Scarborough, Queensland, is a doting young mom who was arranging a Pokémon-themed fifth birthday party for her son Malachi for a month.

According to the upset mother, however, the child’s schoolmates refused to respond to the birthday party invitation after he told them that his mom was making him a vegan cake with no animal products inside.

“I’ve been told every day after school about kids making rude remarks about him being vegan,” the mother claimed in an interview with Daily Mail Australia.

“But it was only a week ago he told me that everyone said they weren’t coming to his party if he has a vegan cake. They want him to have ‘animals’ in it or they won’t come.”

Angel further explained that she went full vegan about a year ago while insisting she never enforced this lifestyle when it came to her two sons. She also said Malachi vowed to never eat animals again after finding out nuggets were made of chickens.

“He is really passionate about being vegan. He absolutely loves his animals. When I explained that chicken is what’s in nuggets and cow in burgers he was instantly thrown off and never wanted to touch any animal product again,” the mom added.

“I think he was excited to tell his friends he’s having a chocolate vegan cake and they ran him down about it and said they won’t come. They want him to have ‘cow’ in his cake or they aren’t coming, that’s how they worded it.”

As Angel insists, her son’s schoolmates haven’t changed their minds since, and not a single one of them responded to the official invitation.

Determined to make her son’s birthday party happen, the mom reached out to fellow vegans via Facebook and asked them if anyone had children who would be willing to attend the birthday party.

“It’s coming up next weekend and we have about 12 kids coming. It will be nice for him to make some kind friends with similar interests,” she concluded.

“He’s always keen to make friends, he’s a little social butterfly so he’s super excited about his birthday.”
