Florence Boycott and Anne Brown were over the moon about their 100th birthday party in Barnsley, England, after deciding to reunite for the special occasion after not seeing each other for years.

The two women enjoyed the event together with their friends as well as five generations of relatives.

“It doesn’t feel any different from when I was 50,” Brown said as she recalled her own father not being able to tell her apart from her sibling.

“They couldn’t tell us apart. My dad was hopeless. He could not tell us one from the other. We were very close. We were always together, never one without the other.”

Speaking of her secret to longevity, the centenarian added: “We’ve just crawled on year after year and we’ve got to a hundred.”

Meanwhile, Boycott’s daughter, Kathy Lindsay, said her mother and auntie were two of ten siblings. She also admitted that she often couldn’t tell them apart because they were so similar.

“My auntie Anne once walked into the house and I thought it was my mum. I said ‘What are you doing here, mum?’ and it was my Auntie Anne. I’d get them mixed up on the phone as well. Their voices were the same,” she recalled.

“They used to swap boyfriends if they’d got one they didn’t like and things like that.”

Kathy also weighed in on the topic of the siblings’ long lives as she credited their good genes for their endurance.

“I think that they’ve both got good genes, really. Neither of them has had a serious illness,” she added.

“My auntie had to have a knee replacement but my mum’s not had any operations or anything like that. I think they’re just lucky. They’ve lived a nice life and behaved themselves.”
