Waitress FIRED After Receiving $10,000 Tip On $32 Bill And Splitting It With Co-Workers But Restaurant Claims It Was A ‘Business Decision’

A waitress from Michigan was fired after receiving $10,000 tip on a $32 bill even though she generously shared the money with her co-workers.

Linsey Boyd was dismissed from the Mason Jar Café in Benton Harbor after a customer gave her an astonishing tip to honor a friend who passed away.

In an interview with WSBT, Boyd said: “I just gave him a hug. I didn’t even know his name at that point, but I gave him a hug. He then told me he left her a memorial of someone very dear to him and he wanted to do something kind and generous in her name.”

But the heartwarming story suddenly took a negative turn after Boyd revealed that she was fired because of “all of the drama, animosity and hurt” caused by the tip.

Restaurant owners Jayme Cousins and Able Martinez then took to Facebook and claimed that the dismissal of Boyd had nothing to do with the massive tip.

“We cannot comment on the nature of her losing her job due to labor laws and to protect the staff involved,” they wrote.

“However, I will say it had nothing to do with the tip. She did receive the entire tip, she did not pay taxes on it (the business did). Yes, she shared the tip at the request of the man that left it.”

Boyd then said that she was asked to take mental health day after ‘drama’ unfolded because of the tip. Rumors also suggested that some of her co-workers who were not working that day may have expected to receive their share.

“The staff that was not working the day of the $10,000 tip expected to be cut it and created an extremely dramatic work environment,” a post read.
