‘I’m FURIOUS At My Wife Because I Can’t Stand The Name She Suggested For Our Baby But Am I The One Being Unreasonable Here?’

When it comes to picking a name for your baby, it is important that both parents like the moniker.

But a father-to-be has shared how he was left fuming as his wife suggested an ‘extremely stupid’ baby name.

Sharing his story on Slade, the man named Geoge explained that he and his wife are expecting a baby girl.

George, a second-generation Greek immigrant, said that he hoped they would be able to pick a name that would reflect his family background and his wife completely agreed.

The couple then started to search for some names for their baby girl but their loving discussion suddenly turned into a heated argument.

“You see, my wife wants to name our daughter Clytemnestra’, and I am dead set against it,” he said.

Clytemnestra is a daughter of Tyndareus and Leda and wife of Agamemnon, commander of the Greek forces in the Trojan war.

With the help of her lover Aegisthus, Clytemnestra killed Agamemnon when he came back from war as he sacrificed their daughter Iphigenia to Artemis in exchange for good sailing conditions.

She was then murdered by her son Orestes as revenge for his father’s death.

George said he didn’t like the name and argued that none of his relatives ‘back in the old country bear that name.’

He also explained that most people don’t know the story of Clytemnestra and if they do, they would only remember her in a negative way.

He then suggested other names that are aligned with Greek mythology and have ‘much better reputations,’ such as Galatea, Andromache, and Penelope, but his wife disagreed.

Columnist Dan Kois suggested that he should try to view Clytemnestra as an ‘angel of vengeance,’ arguing that she was ‘tricked’ into giving her daughter to Agamemnon before she was sacrificed.

Dan also explained that once George’s ‘lil Nestra’ is born, he will likely forget all origins of her name. “It will just be her name,” he added.
