A husband has shared how he was left unable to forgive his wife after she threw away the precious gift his late grandmother gave him.

Posting on Reddit, the grieving grandson asked users for advice on whether or not he was overreacting to the situation.

He explained that his grandmother had given him a recipe book that was ‘filled with secret family recipes.’

“I love cooking and absolutely loved my grandma’s meals so this book means a lot to me,” he wrote.

But when he was looking for the book to prepare a Rum Cake, which was one of his late grandmother’s special meals, he was shocked as he could no longer find it.

“I searched everywhere and found out that my partner had thrown it away. She said she didn’t know the recipe book was from my grandma and assumed it was just some old notebook or whatever,” he continued.

The man was left completely upset as his wife did not ask him before throwing the book away.

“I tried to explain how important it was but she didn’t care and said I could find another recipe online and that I’m overreacting,” he went on.

The husband found himself struggling to forget it and asked Reddit users for advice on how to deal with it.

One person commented: “The lack of apology shows she has no regrets about it. I’d find this very hard to forgive. You’re right to be so upset.”

Another said: “If it was an accident, she’d be full of remorse, trying to put it right, comforting you, showering you with apologies.”
