A woman has come under fire after wearing a very revealing wedding dress on her big day.
33-year-old Ellie Gonsalves is an Australian model and influencer who tied the knot with her partner, Ross Scutts, in a lavish ceremony that took place on the Gold Coast.
During the special occasion, Ellie wore three different designer gowns including a white, see-through mini dress with a plunging neckline that exposed her midsection and her hips.
After the photos from the event went viral on social media, a debate surrounding the controversial wedding dress began with people weighing in on the matter and either voicing their support for the bride or branding her as “inappropriate” and “disrespectful.”
“Soon, people will be going to weddings in their bikinis. More skin on show that way, right?” someone wrote.
“Totally disrespectful not only to her husband but also to the attendees. Not everyone wants to see everything,” another argued.
A third said: “I’m sorry but this is not a good dress for the wedding. Dress modestly!”
Hitting back at the trolls, Ellie has since launched a long rant that was published by 9Honey.
“In an era where women are encouraged to exercise agency over their bodies, it is disheartening to witness the barrage of hate and derogatory comments I received for what some have described as my ‘daring’ dress,” she said.
“Every individual, regardless of gender, should possess the autonomy to decide what they wear, how they present themselves, and what they share with the world.”
She continued: “By denying women this autonomy, we perpetuate a harmful culture of control that infringes upon their fundamental rights.”
Ellie went on to point out that what is deemed appropriate varies from person to person and that she is not ashamed of embracing her agency because doing so paves the way for a more “inclusive” and “accepting society.”
