30-year-old Sofia Franklyn is a content creator and influencer from New York who was in for a backlash after saying she only wants to date “wealthy” men.

To make sure she isn’t wasting any time on the common folk, Sofia asks her dates to show her their bank balance during their first date.

“I’ve asked the last three dudes I’ve dated for their bank account info on the first date,” she admitted as she insisted she “only wants to date a wealthy guy that has money.”

“I think, you know, I have a job, I’m very successful. So I think I have every f*****g right to be like, ‘Hi, are we on the same level or am I wasting my time?’” she said on her podcast Sofia with an F.

Speaking to star guest Leo Skepi, Sofia went on to admit that she wants her dates to prove their financial capabilities to her on their first date.

“I don’t think it’s weird to ask for that kind of information on a first date,” she said.

“I do that and, if they don’t show me, I’ll still go on like a second, third date but I need to know at a certain point. A lot of people think that’s just crazy of me to do, I don’t think it’s that crazy.

“Also, I’m 30 – I’m not really trying to just date and f**k around.”

Sofia’s candid comments received mixed responses on social media where some viewers defended her while others slammed her and accused her of being a gold-digger.

“Does love and genuine connection just not exist anymore?” someone wrote.

“People who have money don’t usually gloat about having money or seek to be on the same level as someone,” another said.

A third argued: “So you expect them to have at least as much money as you? What if they got a lot more but refuse you because you’re poor to them?”

Some people, however, rushed to the influencer’s aid saying it was her right to be financially secure.

“Absolutely 300% agree! You deserve to have a man on the same level as you!” one woman said.

“My fiancé and I are matched equally. But, if I were single, I would need that person to be on my level. I agree with her for the most part,” another added.
