A young woman was left shaken after discovering she actually has 77 secret siblings.
26-year-old Sheena Holland-Dolan of Cleveland, Ohio, thought she was an only child with no siblings for the vast majority of her life.
Soon after turning twenty, however, she was in for a big surprise as she discovered not only that she was conceived by sperm from a donor but also that she had dozens of siblings.
After the big discovery, Sheena embarked on a journey to identify as many siblings as possible – and she has so far already made contact with 77 half-brothers and half-sisters.
“To say it was a shock was an understatement. was left shaken,” the young lady said of her discovery.
“It was a tricky situation, I was initially so upset that I’d been lied to. I understand that back then, there was maybe an element of shame, and they would worry about what other people would think,” Sheena added as she revealed her parents hadn’t told her the truth until she was already 20.
Curious to find out more about her biological family, she Cleveland native eventually registered on 23andme and did a DNA test only to discover she was the 47th biological child of the same donor to be identified.
“The prospect of siblings hadn’t even crossed my mind when I went hunting on family tree sites. But someone reached out to me and said: ‘I know who your dad is,’” she explained.
While 47 may sound like a big number, new discoveries didn’t stop there. Sheena has since joined her half-sibling Kianni Arroyo on her hunt to find all the biological siblings out there. Since then, she already found 77 other siblings and more are being discovered on a regular basis.
“There are now 78 of us, and I’m sure a lot more out there waiting to be found too,” she added.
“Everyone has different levels of involvement, which is fine, but there are a lot of us who regularly meet up and we have such a great time.
“Each time I meet a new half sibling, I’m looking for similarities – do they have the same dimples as me, or the same sense of humor?”
Sheena also revealed she has gotten so close to her half-sister Kianni the two are now like best friends who even went on their honeymoons together.
“We instantly clicked, and I was so thrilled to have a sister. We discovered we were both getting married at similar times, so we arranged to go on honeymoon together. It was so special,” she said.
