A woman has divided the opinions of young people after revealing why she never wants to have children of her own.
25-year-old Bree from Canada is a single lady who only has one answer for people who ask her if she has any kids or if she’s ready to become a parent. The answer? “Absolutely not.”
Explaining her reason for now wanting to take over the responsibility of a parent, the mom said she’s perfectly happy with being a “cool aunt.”
She also said she didn’t want all the responsibility the mothers have while dads get to have more fun.
“I would love to be a parent, I would love to be a dad. I don’t get that choice – I would have to be a mother – and there is no way in hell I would ever wanna be a mother,” Bree said in her viral video.
“I don’t want the responsibility of being a mother. I want to be the cool parent, I want to have as little responsibility as possible and mothers don’t get that.”
After her video went viral, Bree added: “After seeing all the unappreciated invisible effort my mother puts in for us I could not imagine that being my life!”
Many viewers quickly agreed with the young woman’s point of view while applauding her for speaking out.
“I am so overwhelmed as a working mother. I am at a point where I might need to stop working because of high daycare fees. But why me and not dad?” one mother wrote.
Another said: “I told hubby from the beginning that he would have to be the mum but he didn’t want that either. So we stayed child free.”
Not everyone, however, agreed with Bree suggesting that all dads have fewer responsibilities than mothers.
“I know plenty of dads who do more work than mothers when it comes to looking after their kids,” someone wrote.
“If you don’t want kids that’s completely fine. No need to blame men for your laziness to raise them though,” another said.
Despite some backlash, many people appeared to agree with the young woman and encouraged her to stay true to her plans.
“I’m about to be 34, no kids, don’t EVER let anyone change your mind. I love being able to do what I want without having to find a babysitter first,” one woman explained.
