A busy woman has opened up about her lifestyle and revealed she hired a nanny for her young daughter even though she’s a stay-at-home mother.
35-year-old Jen Miller from Austin, Texas, says getting a nanny to look after her two-year-old daughter, Liberty, made her a better mother.
As the stay-at-home mom, who is married to businessman Grant Miller, explained, running a household and her family is already a full-time job and she couldn’t perform at her best without getting some help in looking after her daughter.
“I like to be able to give my full presence to my daughter as a mom, to play with her and give her the attention she deserves,” Jen said.
“When the nanny isn’t there, I do feel overwhelmed and like other things have to be pushed to the wayside or in the evenings. In that case I find it difficult to give my full focus and attention to my daughter.”
As the mother admitted, however, she realizes that her current set-up is an “immense privilege” and that some people may not agree with the way she managed her family.
“I look at other mums on social media, managing the household and family and I think how difficult it is for everyone. Most people don’t show the full story – this is just me sharing my own situation,” she added.
Jen also opened up about her daily routine and revealed she wakes up at 5.30 in the morning to get her daughter ready, walk the dog, and have a workout in her home gym.
After that, she is in charge of running various household errands until the evening when she plays with her daughter and cleans up the house.
Once Liberty goes to bed, Jen enjoys dinner and goes on to spend some me-time before retiring to her bed.
“Every family is different. This is how we make ours work,” Jen concluded.
“Having a full-time nanny gives me the energy and patience to be the best mum I can be while still taking care of all of our family’s needs.”
