While many schools ask parents to avoid giving novelty presents to staff, every gift is still greatly appreciated.
But one teacher was left fuming after unwrapping a ‘disappointing’ gift she received from the school.
Taking to TikTok, the teacher- who goes under the username @lil.yambs, asked others whether she was being ‘a brat’ for not liking the gift.
“I’m confused. Is this a joke? I got my Christmas present from the school,” she said in her video.
“It’s literally a Covid rapid test.”
She unwrapped the box and revealed the test kid before expressing her disappointment by sighing in disgust.
The art teacher also joked that the gift was her Christmas bonus as she added the hashtag #teachersareunderpaid.
Her video has quickly gone viral, gaining more than 180,000 views and thousands of comments from people baffled by the Christmas gift.
Many TikTokers also pointed out that Covid tests are free in their areas.
One person commented: “Sorry but omg I wasn’t expecting it to be this bad,” ++
Another said: “What??!? You can go online to the USPS website and request 4 of those tests for FREE!”
A third wrote: “Those are current free ones I just got in the mail today from the gov.”
Someone else added: “Just plain insulting – I’d rather have nothing!”
Many teachers also commented and shared that they have never received gifts from school.
“Last year we got served hot cocoa that was left over from an event for the kids lmao,” one person wrote.
“Girl, all we got was a Merry Christmas announcement on the intercom,” another said.
A third shared: “She got a covid test more than I did from my boss….. 3 million profit and not even a thanks or have a good Xmas said.”
