A couple with a massive age gap once again hit the headlines after sharing their joy while celebrating their first wedding anniversary.
25-year-old Quran McCain and his 62-year-old wife Cheryl McGregor, who is a mother-of-seven, left the internet divided after opening up about their relationship on the internet and announcing plans to start their own family.
The Georgia couple tied the knot on September 3, 2021, after first meeting in person back in 2012 when Quran was just 15 years old.
One year after their intimate ceremony, Cheryl and Quran announced they were still happy together as they celebrated their first wedding anniversary.
The lovebirds, who have a 37-year age gap between them, also announced plans to start their own family by getting a baby through surrogacy.
“We prefer surrogacy, however, we have seen a lot of people embroiled in legal complications far after the child is born,” Quran said in an interview with Jam Press.
“We are looking for a nice surrogate who is willing to sign a contract to have nothing to do with the child after it’s born. We don’t want people trying to have a baby for us for financial gain, we are not that financially inclined ourselves.
“Both of Cheryl’s daughters had hysterectomies in the last few years otherwise they would have been the best option for being as close to a biological child as possible.”
While the couple appear to be over the moon about their plans for the future, they admitted receiving lots of backlash from critics who accused them of having a fake relationship for the sake of fame.
Hitting back at haters, Quran said he chose his wife because she is “beautiful, elegant, strong, noble, honest and compassionate.”
He also insisted that their time under the sheets is only getting better with time because “she knows what she’s doing.”
“People on social media have a lot of hate for us, they say I’m dating my grandmother,” Quran added.
“I am not, she is younger than my grandmother, we are no different from any other couple, love is love. We get a lot of hate but it doesn’t phase us.
“At the end of the day, we still got each other and that’s all that matters. No matter what they say or do, it can’t hurt us. We know the stuff that they say isn’t true and they believe it, we feel sorry for them.”
Meanwhile, Cheryl insisted she has faith in Quran and said he will make a great father even if she won’t be there for him in the future.
“If I am not here he can do it. He’s gonna be a great father, he’s a responsible adult. I had every bit of faith that he could raise our child and do it very well,” she said.
