A woman has opened up about her marital issues and revealed that her marriage has been hanging by a thread following her husband’s promotion.
As the lady in question revealed in her Mumsnet post, she put her career on hold after she and her husband started a family of their own.
Since she took care of the kids and the household most of the time, the woman had to give up her chance of becoming successful and being able to afford a better home, car, and holidays.
While she took the back seat in managing finances in her family, her husband continued working and recently hit a jackpot by getting a big raise.
Things went awry, however, when the woman suggested they use the extra money her husband gets to move to a better house and buy a bigger car.
“I would like to move house – we could do with more space, but also because where we live is fairly isolated, you can’t walk anywhere and it’s been lonely not being close to friends or family,” the disgruntled wife, who is now working again and contributing to the expenses, explained.
“With our combined salary we could easily buy a bigger house in a nice area, closer to school etc. and could afford to double our budget. However my husband refuses.”
Speaking of the rift this has caused between the pair, the wife added: “Every time I raise it it’s an argument and he always has an excuse, which I feel are overly cautious – I.e. interest rates have risen, he might earn less next year, and so on and so on.
“I appreciate his worries and I think there are things we can do to mitigate them. I’m also not talking about going mad and trying to buy a mansion, but more just to use the income we have. He also doesn’t want to spend any money on nice cars, holidays, days out, etc.”
Concluding her post, the woman asked the viewers if they think she was too spoiled or if her husband was just being too tight with money.
