An employee has been left furious and disappointed after she received a ‘hospital potato’ as a Christmas bonus.
Amanda took to X (formerly Twitter) and said that the Christmas bonus she received from her job was ‘hospital potato’.
If that was not depressing enough, the employee would have to pay tax for the vegetable too.
Amanda wrote in her viral post: “My work is doing a potato bar as our Christmas bonus. I’m literally getting a hospital potato as a bonus.
“They also said it has a $15 value so it will be taxed on our next check. Does anyone need an assistant so I can just quit right now?”
Her post gained more than 2 million views and many people told her to start a riot or a fight but she explained that she needs her job.
She also revealed that the ‘hospital potato’ was already an improvement as they received a 30-minute video conference call with the company’s leadership as last year’s Christmas gift.
Social media users were quick to share their thoughts on the potato Christmas bonus, with one person commenting: “This is the kind of s**t that makes me believe that we live in a simulation. what the f*** do you mean you’re taxing her POTATO.”
Another said: “So potatoes are now currency. I filled my gas tank yesterday, it cost me 2 Idaho bakers & a red skin.”
A third said: “Nurses are all miserable right now but at least my husband’s hospital didn’t give him a baked potato for his bonus and charge him taxes on it like a frigging Dickens villain.”
