A couple has scooped the jackpot in a spectacular way after the wife pulled a cruel prank on her husband.
Charlotte Peart, 28, pranked her husband Daniel, 27, by telling him that they won $305,000 jackpot. So when she called to share the exciting news that they had actually won $1.2 million only three weeks later, Daniel had second thoughts.
She ‘burst into laughter’ when she called the lottery call center to confirm her win before telling the operator that she was about to cry.
In the video of the call, Charlotte can be heard saying: “I found out this morning. You get emails come through and you’ve won three quid so I left it.
“I thought I would just go on there and check it. I didn’t expect to see six zeros at the end. You don’t see that often. I can’t believe it, I think I’m in shock.”
The operator confirmed that she won a million.
It has been five years since the couple won the jackpot. Charlotte told The Mirror: “I vividly remember it, I could not stop giggling. It was nerves coupled with shocked disbelief.
“Two weeks earlier I had wound Daniel up that we’d won £250,000 ($305,000) so to call to officially claim £1 million ($1.22 million) was just crazy.”
She also said that she had purchased the ticket on a whim with her last £1.50 ($1.83) in their online lottery account.
The couple used their winnings to buy their dream home. Charlotte also set up her own business and got to spend more quality time with her husband and three children.
“Without our win, it just wouldn’t have been possible,” she expressed.
