A woman who lost her teeth after struggling with addiction has to learn how to smile again after getting a set of dentures.
Faith Hill, now 23, was only 14 years old when she became addicted to meth.
Sadly, her addiction took her bright smile away and she was left with rotting teeth in her mouth. But she has been sober since she quit her addiction in July 2020.
In 2021, Faith underwent surgery to have her rotting teeth removed, and her new set of dentures were fitted in November.
She then realized that she had to learn how to smile again after hiding her mouth for years because of her black teeth.
“’I had no salvageable teeth, so I decided to have them all pulled out and went toothless,” Faith expressed.
“Seeing myself with dentures for the first time was so shocking. I had to practice how to smile as it had been so long.”
Faith said she did not know how to move her mouth around.
“Now I look back at my addiction self, and I don’t recognize her. I’m a completely different person now,” she continued.
It was in 2020 when Faith realized that she had to get back on track.
“It wasn’t a normal life,” she shared. “I hardly went outside, and lived in hotels, or even wandered the streets looking for a place to stay.”
Faith went to rehab and decided that she wanted to fix her teeth.
“They were awful,” she said. “I hadn’t smiled in years because of my teeth.”
Thanks to her friend who wanted to see her smile again, she received her first set of dentures.
“Now I have an even better new set which make me feel so confident,” she said. “Now I love to smile.”
