A woman has left her friends baffled and disgusted after she revealed that she puts her toilet brush in the dishwasher.
The unnamed woman took to Mumsnet and said that she doesn’t see the problem as she just wanted to keep her toilet brush clean.
She also said that it is a great way to sanitize it but her friends and even internet users were horrified.
Asking for people’s opinions, she wrote: “I clean my toilet brush in dishwasher every few months. I just put the brush and holder in, on their own, on a hot wash and they come out like new.”
The woman didn’t see any problem until her friend visited and noticed her ‘cleaning hack.’
“A friend popped by this morning for coffee, and I opened the dishwasher to get out a couple of mugs, forgetting that I had put the toilet items in last night,” she wrote.
“She totally freaked out, saying this is totally disgusting, and re-washed the mugs I had then taken out from the cupboard AND poured boiling water on them before she would allow me to make her coffee!!”
The woman wasn’t sure what she had done wrong so she asked online if her friend was just being unreasonable as the toilet brush and mugs were washed in separate loads.
Mumsnet users were quick to share their thoughts on the matter, with one person commenting: “That is absolutely disgusting. I don’t care how hygienic it is, just NO.”
Another wrote: “You do realize the first rinse in the dishwasher is recycled water? So you are washing your pots in poo.”
A third said: “Well I suppose all the muck would be rinsed and drained away but it still sounds gross!”
