A plus-sized social media star spoke out and slammed the ranch that denied her the opportunity to ride their horses because of her weight.
26-year-old Remi Bader is a social media influencer and TikTok star who paid a visit to Deep Hollow Ranch in Montauk while on a press trip for Hampton Water’s event in New York.
As the young lady revealed, the staff at the ranch banned her from riding horses because she weighed over 240 pounds even though she was previously allowed to ride without a problem at other locations.
While she completely understands the decision the ranch made to protect their horses, Remi can’t wrap her head around the way she was allegedly treated by the staff.
The 26-year-old spoke out after the event and claimed she was laughed at and humiliated during her experience.
She was also called a “fat bi***” by the son of the owner of the ranch who responded to her accusations saying: “When you’re not a fat b**** you can ride at Deep Hollow Ranch.”
Though the ranch quickly made the young man retract his offensive social media clip, Remi managed to reshare it on her own social media platforms.
While she insisted she didn’t want to harm the small business or endanger their horses in any way, the 26-year-old said she decided to speak out because of the way she was treated at the ranch.
“I posted for a reason and that’s not because of me being denied to ride the horses. I get it, some places have weight requirements and I’d never want to hurt the horses, but it was the way I was spoken [to] and laughed at by the owner and the way I was treated overall,” she said.
“[They] made [it] very clear that they did not want me there because of my weight and that’s disappointing.”
Following the incident, Deep Hollow Ranch apologized to Remi in a statement.
“A teenage employee posted a response that in no way represents nor is aligned with the views that the owners of the ranch hold,” they said. “We would like to apologize to anyone who this offended and we do not condone or agree with any part of that employee’s video.”
Since then, Hampton Water, who held their weekend event at the ranch, also spoke out about the matter and claimed they “will not work with Deep Hollow Ranch again and do not condone any of the events that followed.”
“Inclusivity and kindness are rooted in Hampton Water’s foundation. We want to offer our deepest apologies to Remi,” the wine business stated.
