A Primary School in Edinburgh is stunning audiences around the world after it recently requested young male students and teachers to show up to class in a ‘skirt’.
Castleview Primary School startled not only so many members of the community but global citizens around the globe when they made the bizarre announcement recently, stating how it would help promote gender equality in classrooms.
Both girls and boys will show up to school today in skirts to help stay true to the cause, explained staff members belonging to the school.
But if you think the request was accepted by parents with ease, well, you definitely need to rethink again. And that’s because the decision was wildly criticized by so many parents who simply felt that the move was beyond ridiculous for obvious reasons.
However, those in favor of the act argued how the school just appeared to be following a move that’s similar to Spain because that is where teachers, as well as kids, showed up in skirts to help promote solidarity.
But many critics claim that the school was the same one in Spain that went about expelling one young student for showing up to class in a skirt.
Now, Spain has gone on to officially declare November 4th as ‘wear a skirt to school day’ and it’s going viral around the world.
Meanwhile, parents spoke about how a sudden email was sent out to them by Castleview Primary School’s admin, adding how the school even spoke about how they wished to make kids comfortable during the act.
For that reason, they even gave students an option to wear leggings or trousers beneath the skirt, in case they felt a little uncomfortable.
Surprisingly, the school also offered to provide skirts to those youngsters, if none were available or suitable for them at their homes.
