With dozens of countries on lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic, people were told to social distance and isolate themselves in their homes in order to stop the virus from spreading.
Since no such rules apply to dogs, one man from Cyprus has decided to continue providing his pooch with daily exercise by talking it out for a walk using a drone.
As seen in the video posted on Facebook and YouTube, Vakis Demetriou attached his dog’s tie to a remotely controlled drone before talking the pooch out for a walk.
As the dog is walking down the street, the drone is carefully hovering above it and leading it in the right direction thanks to Vakis who can see what’s going on via a drone camera.
At the end of the short video, the dog owner is seen standing on the porch with controls in his hands while his dog is walking down the street in the presence of the drone.
“5th day quarantine. Stay home safe but don’t forget your dog’s happiness,” Vakis captioned his video.
Previously, another dog owner has gone the extra mile to ensure his dogs would get proper exercise during winter.
As Canada-based Brian Keith Einarson told The Dodo, he has always wanted for his three dogs to stay healthy and fit even when the temperatures drop below zero.
To make sure the pooches sleep less and play more, he turned his backyard into a magical winter wonderland with sculptures and igloos carved out of snow.
As Mr. Einarson added, creating tunnels underneath the sheets of snow not only made it fun for his dogs to run through but also made cleaning poos easier.
“I’m a truck driver and I would get home at night when it’s dark out, and it’s hard to find the poop. So I just made paths so I could find it. Otherwise, it’s springtime, you would have a pretty big mess out there, and it’s not very appealing,” the dog lover said in an interview with The Dodo.
Soon enough, Einarson realized that his backyard could look even better with a bit of help from the kids around the block who love to play with snow after school hours.
About a month later, the playground for the dogs was finished and the only thing needed to get the pooches moving was an incentive in the form of treats.
“They watch from the window as I put treats all over the place. As soon as they see me come and open the door it’s a mad dash for each dog to get as many treats as they can,” Einarson said according to The Dodo. “They run by and grab them and keep running.”
