A cute little dog had to wear sunscreen due to a wrong haircut by the groomer.
The furry fellow Nanuk was taken to the hairdresser to get ‘a trim’ but the man probably got that wrong and ended up shaving all the hair off the seven-year-old dog’s body.
With all his hair shaved, Nanuk looked completely different but his looks were the least of the poor dog’s problems.
As Nanuk lives in Florida, he can’t face the sunshine without the thick coat of his white hair. As a result, he now has to wear a jacket and has sunscreen applied to the exposed parts of his body.
Carley Coca, the 28-year-old owner of Nanuk, said that she instructed the groomer to give him a ‘trim of his upper coat’ but the result she got was hilarious and she could hardly recognize her dog.
In fact, she walked right beside her own dog after the haircut without even suspecting that it was Nanuk when she came to take him back.
The dog had to wait a whole year to get back the upper coat that the groomer ‘trimmed.’
Carley explained: “When I went to pick up Nanuk from the dog groomers, I literally said out loud, ‘That’s not my dog.’
“The groomer assured me it was Nanuk and I even had to call him to check, but he looked like a complete different breed.
“Nanuk seemed to love the haircut – he acted so proud. But he’d never looked like that before, I was so shocked.”
She added: “Even as a puppy, he’d always been so fluffy. He’s got a hilarious personality – he’s just one big stubborn goof, and without all his fur?
“I couldn’t stop laughing – I remember saying, ‘Can you just trim the long hairs off his feet and ears?’
“It was awful really, because the man who had groomed him was obviously so proud of his work, so I felt like I just had to smile and let it go.”
Needless to say, Carley has now switched to another groomer to get her three dogs trimmed when they have to.
Carley and Michael, her husband, said they did find it amusing to see Nanuk without his hair but they were happy to see his coat grow back.
Carley said: “You do have to be careful with Samoyed fur, and they shouldn’t be cut like that really, but he was never cold – he honestly seemed to love it.
“Although I did love having to put sunscreen on him, and at one point even a t-shirt to try and protect him.”
