On February 22, the Middletown Division of Police received an unusual call for help after a 200-pound family pig escaped and found herself strolling around the town.
After the ‘disturbance’ was reported, multiple cops showed up at the scene and used their cars in an attempt to block the pig from escaping once again.
“We had to take this pig into custody,” the police jokingly wrote on Facebook after the incident. “He was involved in a disturbance… someone was tryin’ to blow his house down…”
The escapee, however, wasn’t a he but a lady called Charlotte. Soon after hearing of the showdown, Charlotte’s owner, Yvette Hoffman, ran to the scene to secure her beloved pet and take her home.
After putting the leash on her giant pet, Ms. Hoffman sweetened the deal with “Most Stuf Oreos” which are Charlotte’s favorite food.
Before reaching their home, the piggy has already finished an entire pack of Oreos. Fortunately, however, the incident got resolved and the police officers involved couldn’t help but crack up and enjoy being assigned to the harmless case.
“Charlotte is excited to meet everyone,” Yvette commented under the police department’s post. “I would also like to use this opportunity to remind everyone, pets are for life. So many fur babies end up unwanted, homeless, in the pound and worse.”
While this definitely was a rare sighting, Charlotte wasn’t the first pig to be lured back home with food after running away from their owner.
Several months ago, a giant California pig named Smalls found himself lost in the neighborhood. To help lure the large pig back into his yard, the police used a stash of Doritos that one of the officers was saving for their lunchtime.
