He simply blows gently on the dog’s nose.

25-year-old Aiden Mann living in Nashville in Tennessee had adopted a 1-year-old Australian Shepherd called Plum from his colleague who was looking after ger.

Due to the breeding, birth defects, Plum is blind and deaf. When he decided to take her, Aiden knew that he would be able to care for her properly because he has had two dogs- Willow and Lola.

However, when she came to his house, waking her up was extremely terrifying for her. Even for us with ears and eyes, getting woken up by shaking can be disturbing.

So, Aiden discovered a gentle idea of blowing on her nose softly to wake her up without scaring the poor dog.

When he wakes her up, she gradually searches for Aiden, which is extremely adorable. Aiden said that Plum was born like that because of double merle breeding.

He added that although the biggest struggle was finding how to communicate with her after it was discovered, everything had been awesome.

Merle is a term for the genetic pattern that builds a dog’s coat. If two dogs with the same merle genetics are bred together, the resulting offsprings have an increased chance of being deaf, blind, or having other genetic defects.

However, Plum is able to lead a normal life. Aiden revealed that Plum generally follows his other dog, Lola, mostly.

Even when he feeds his dogs, Plum can smell him open the food, and she goes to the pot where her food bowl is kept. He noted that Plum is the happiest, most outgoing, and sweetest dog he had ever met.
