Victor Hugo in his novel “Less Miserables” stated that the protagonist of the novel Jean Valjean spent two years of his life in jail just because he stole bread for his family.
When he was released from jail he again started stealing. Only if a generous man favors this guy he could be saved from going to jail for the second time.
A situation very similar to Hugo’s novel happened in New York on the independence day. WTVD reported that a woman who was doing shopping at Big Apple Whole Foods. While she was shopping she added an unspecified thing in her bag which was theft and there was no doubt on it.
She was caught by someone otherwise she might have slipped away from the situation easily. At the same time, a few cops entered for an informal term of a meal.
No one realized that a filmmaker, Paul Bozymowski was watching the whole incident and what he noticed next will melt your heart.
That woman opened her bag and the officer immediately said, “I’ll buy your food”.
He was clear in his tone and by seeing the manner of the Cop that woman was besieged with thankfulness. She was expecting a punishment instead of this kind gesture, this made her cry.
She told them the truth about that food but the officers did not pay much heed. Those officers were Lt. Sojo, Cuevas and Rivera. They even gave her $10 to have some meal. According to one of the officers, ‘we searched her bag but we found nothing except food”.
Officers are of the view that you cannot ignore a hungry person and you cannot even help without providing them their necessities.
This incident moved Bozymowski’s heart as he had never seen such kind gesture in 25 years of his life being a New Yorker.
The officers were praised by NYPD chief Terrace Monahan he stated that these officers are kind-hearted who helped a lady in need.
