People are panicking on social media over reports that Taco Bell has a tortilla shortage that is affecting what products are available in its restaurants all over the US. The company acknowledged in a statement that the problem can be traced to a supplier shortage but they were working hard to replenish their stocks.

Speaking to Business Insider, one Taco Bell spokeswoman said, “While some Taco Bell restaurants are experiencing supplier shortages, we are working diligently to replenish the supply of our tortillas (used for products like quesadillas and burritos) in those restaurants and encourage fans to try any of our other delicious menu items like the Power Menu Bowl or Cheesy Gordita Crunch in the meantime.

Among the products that are affected by the shortage are burritos, quesadillas, as well as special offerings like the Crunchywrap Supreme. The company did not disclose just how many restaurants were being affected by the shortfall in tortillas.

Despite the company’s calls for patience, social media posts from customers suggest anything but. Here’s what a few had to say:

One wrote: “Taco Bell’s tortilla shortage might be the worst thing that has happened to me in a while.”

Another said: “Bitterly disappointed in @tacobell in the Woodhaven Michigan area. How can you possibly allow your stores to be out of tortilla wraps to make burritos/quesadilla’s in the ENTIRE area?? On taco Tuesday?!?? Cmon, be better.”

One alarmed customer wrote: “ALERT: THERE IS A NATIONWIDE TORTILLA SHORTAGE FOR TACO BELL AND NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT…this silence is deafening @tacobell”

Those are some seriously frustrated customers who have been thwarted from fulfilling their cravings. Hopefully, the company can resolve the issue soon, not just for the sake of their customers but also for the sake of the company’s balance sheet.
