After a long hard day or even a cozy day in bed, we tend to crack our body a little.
It gives a sense of relaxation and stress release to the body and the bones, right? Besides, who in the world does not do it?
It is a pretty common thing and it happens naturally. Well, until now you would be thinking that why we are writing so much about a thing that does not really makes any difference other than giving a bit of relaxation to the body. But hey, tragedies can come in any face.
After telling you what happened to this 23 years old paramedic, I am sure you would think 10 times before you crack your neck. Natalie Kunicki is a young paramedic working in the ambulance department in London.
One night after a night out and drinking, she was relaxing and watching a movie with a friend as they both lay in bed all relaxed. To get her bones to feel better, she cracked her neck but had no idea something so terrible would happen to her.
She said “I got up to go to the washroom and 15 minutes later I fell off to the ground. My friend thought I was drunk but I knew my body had collapsed and something was wrong. I didn’t want to be embarrassed in front of my co-workers, so I decided to call 999 myself.”
Her leg was not working and she thought it was just an attack. She tried sleeping off but realized that it was not working and she really needed help so she got up and called 999 who came and took her to the hospital.
On her way to the hospital, she realized that it was something seriously wrong that has happened to her body and she should not have ignored it.
Doctors told her that while cracking her neck she cracked open her vertebral artery because of which a blood clot was formed in her brain that had caused the stroke.
So next time you feel a bit stress, don’t take cracking up as the option because you now know where it can take you to.
