A family of four was driving home from shopping when an accident happened.
The father, mother, and their newborn baby survived the car accident without critical injuries. However, 3-year-old Lacey Jane Ayers had to be airlifted to Alabama Children’s Hospital.
Doctors said that the little girl wouldn’t make it through the night but a miracle happened.
The family wrote on Facebook: “The evening following her accident, Lacey was not expected to make it through the night. However, she miraculously started to respond.
“Since then, Lacey has started to take very small and very slow steps towards recovery.”
Even though the family and doctors were concerned about the 3-year-old having permanent brain damage, she managed to defy the odds, day by day.
Parents wanted to make it clear that Lacey and her little brother were “both in their children’s seat exactly as is recommended.” They also said that the team at the hospital was extremely incredible.
The family shared another update and expressed their happiness at the signs of progress their girl continued to show.
“I cried when I found out about you. I cried when you were born. I cried when you died. I cried when you survived. God has given us the best gift in the world this year,” they wrote.
“‘Blessed’ isn’t a word I like to use often, but I can think of nothing else to describe this miracle.”
After more than a month in the hospital, Lacey was finally able to go home.
A year after she went home from the hospital, the family wrote: “We can’t thank you enough for all of the prayers. We hold these in our hearts forever!”
Lacey’s story is certainly a true miracle. One that serves as a reminder of how valuable and precious our life really is.
