David Beckham was called ‘weird’ for a sweet snap he shared of the innocent peck while ice skating with Harper, seven.
Now, parents are defending Beckham including Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge, who shared a video of her kissing one of her sons with footballer Wayne, David’s former England teammate.
Parents are sharing pictures of kissing their kids on the lips to suport Beckham.
One follower posted: “I don’t care what anyone says if a dad kisses a child on the lips it’s completely wrong.”
While a second said: “I feel like a kiss on the cheek is better than that on the lips. The lips is just weird.”

The trend has even reached the United States, with mum Erin Rusnak writing: “This one’s for you @davidbeckham #wouldnthaveitanyotherway”.
Another mummy blogger asked: “Anyone else think the drama surrounding @davidbeckham today is just an absolute joke?!
“I will kiss my little boy on the lips for as long as he kisses me back. So many trolls in the world… I have nothing but love for DB’s post, it’s just beautiful”.
And one dad said: “I can’t believe there’s even so much as a quizzical eyebrow at David Beckham giving his little girl a kiss on the lips.
“But it does at least give me the opportunity to show Becks some solidarity, we probably don’t have that much in common normally.”
Another mum slammed the critics, writing: “I first shared this picture when @victoriabeckham was told she shouldn’t be kissing her children on the lips.
“I’ll share it again now that @davidbeckham is under scrutiny for the same thing. Don’t be so ridiculous, the world needs to get a grip.
“Are people’s lives that warped they think kissing your own child on the lips shouldn’t be done?! Dear god.
” I kiss my babies on the lips all the time! Why wouldn’t I?! It’s a sign of love and affection.”
