A couple recently got slammed by users, saying that they were “lazy” parents for keeping baby occupied by themselves as they go around to shop.
They leave the baby alone in the stroller with entertainment coming from an iPad. Although it’s hard to keep your attention on your kids while shopping, being a parent is a full-time job regardless.
The Liven Family is from New York, having 1.2 million followers under their belt on the social media platform, Tiktok, to share their moments as a family.
They made a stroller tent for their kid, which stirred up the Internet. In the video that went viral, they repurposed their pram, putting a blanket over his stroller while giving him an iPad to stay entertained. The video clip gained traction and earned 5.6 million views.
The parents say that they’ve given him toys, Disney Plus on the iPad, and snacks so that they don’t have to worry about him while they shop. The video has gained more than 800,000 likes and 6,500 comments. One of the user comments, “Or you could shop with your child, let it participate and not let it watch tv far too young.”
Another user says “As an educator, don’t do this too often… best to engage and teach the kid things while shopping… this is just a bit lazy.”
A third user chimes in, saying that they work with children who “lack daily living and social skills and I can say that this is part of the problem.”
Other people defended the parents, one comment asks, “Why are people judging a mom for keeping her kid occupied with a movie while she shops?”
Another comment that defends the parents says that “So many people complain about kids running around in stores and crying really loud in public but also complain when the parent is trying to minimize it.”
Those who are parents argue that the people who are against what the mother is doing are usually not a parent themselves, so their argument seems to be inconsistent if they don’t know how a parent has to put up with dealing with their children.
What do you think of their method?
