Australian parents Cassie and Chris had a wish to take the family-of-five on a day trip to Warrnambool, a city along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria.
But their young children responded saying, ‘that’s so boring, I don’t want to go.’
The parents decided to unplug the Internet router and take it with them. And then they documented their day together at the beach, amusement park and playground.
‘Chris and I decided that instead of taking three unappreciative kids out, we let the ones who didn’t want to go stay home and took our most overworked family member for a well deserved day out… our modem,’ Cassie said.
‘Modem had a fantastic day not being used by the kids and it was lovely not to listen to constant bickering. The only complaining was Evan being mortified that we took our modem out in public.’
The mother shared various pictures of their road trip on Facebook. Her post went viral and received more that 11,000 likes and over 7,800 shares by people.
The couple was described as ‘heroes’ by many people.
‘Love it… Modem looks so happy on its day off. Wonder how the kids went with their day off,’ Kellie said, with laughing emoticons.
Carla said: ‘This is actually the best thing ever.’
Sara said: ‘Love it looks like modem had a wonderful day living the life.’
Jenny said: ‘Parenting goals right here.’
And Pam said: ‘You win the internet today, this is the best.’
Other parents were inspired by the idea and they said they are going to do the same thing to their children if they ever refuse to go out with them. Well, it was really a good idea to teach kids a lesson now they will think twice before declining to go out with their parents.
