Two lesbian parents are being hailed as the world’s first gay couple to have the word father removed from their baby’s birth certificate.
According to local media outlets, 38-year-old Natalie Woods gave birth to a 7-pound 8-ounce daughter named Lily-May Betty Woods, right after she paid for an IVF treatment worth 7000 pounds.
Therefore, inside sources reveal how the mum wishes to be referred to as ‘mummy’ by her daughter while her partner will be referred to as Mama B respectively, who is 47-year-old Betty Knowles.
This lesbian pair has now been registered as the world’s first couple to make use of a law change that permits the usage of same-gender parents signing a birth certificate known as ‘mother and partner’ respectively.
Natalie reveals how she delivered her baby daughter at home in her own birthing pool, which was situated in the couple’s home in Brighton. Moreover, the couple also spoke about how they intend on having a second child as well soon.
Currently, Natalie works for the Lesbian Gay Bisexual as well as Trans counseling service. On the other hand, her partner Betty has recently had 4 weeks of her paternity leave from her respective job as she works as a van driver.
The duo plan on marrying through a civil partnership, most probably by next year, they confirmed.
Today, the couple cherishes their decision, referring to the feeling as absolutely fantastic and quite a milestone too. Natalie also revealed how free she feels about not having to worry about any concerns relating to her being the only legal parent too.
The couple also spoke about how their daughter may want to learn about her father in the future and she can after she turns 18. However, the couple doesn’t refer to him as a father. Instead, they claim he is just a donor, not the dad.
In the same way, the couple also mentioned how they discussed the entire scenario out during a set of counseling sessions and that’s when they came to this very conclusion about how they plan on dealing with it all in the future.
For now, the couple is as happy and in love as can be, cherishing their beautiful bundle of joy, by all means.
