Any two creatures can be friends. It does not have to mean that a human can only be friends with a human or a dog can only be friends with a dog.
This is not true. To tell you this here is a beautiful video of a parrot and dog who are friends and play with each other all day long.
This parrot and the dog lives in the same house and both are loved by their owner. Despite having humans around, they also spend a lot of time together and became friends eventually.
Now they are so good friends that keeping them away from each other is almost impossible. They play together all day long just like they are playing in this video all day.
They are smart and understand that they are friends and they do not have to harm each other in any way.
The dog that can easily kill the parrot is extremely conscious when around the bird that it does not harm the bird in any way.
Animals are smart and emotional. They have all kinds of emotions.
They have love, empathy, and kindness to count on which is why they are able to adapt to humans as well as other animals even though they are separated from their natural family. They start loving anyone they are living around in no time.
