A parrot was removed by police officers after it alerted its owners that the police was raiding their drug house in northeastern Brazil.
When the Military Police 17th Batallion raided the drug house in Teresina, a city in the state Piauí, the parrot shouted: ‘mom, the police.’
Police officers spotted a man outside a home from where he had recently bought drugs while making rounds in the neighborhood of Vila Irmã Dulce.
As the Military Police raided the house of a woman known as ‘India’, the parrot quickly shouted: ‘mom, the police.’ The police officers were left shocked.
The woman – whose house was raided – had been arrested twice for drug dealing in the past.
‘He must have been trained for that. He began to scream as soon as the police approached’, Major Mello of the Military Police 17th Batallion said.
Police officers arrested the husband of the woman – 30-year-old Edvan, who had four packages of crack.
Their 16-year-old daughter was also found with marijuana hidden inside her underwear but the girl was later released after appearing before a judge.
The parrot that alerted its owners before the police raided their drug house will be transferred to the Teresina Zoo by the Environmental Police Batallion.
