A lot of people have this impression that parrots simply mimic words and sounds without really knowing what they mean.
We’ve all heard the “Molly wants a cracker!” line in cartoons as the parrot does all sort crazy stuff. And whenever a parrot is portrayed as having a conversation with another character, we assume it’s just something confined to cartoons.
But with Einstein the Talking Texan Parrot, he probably falls somewhere in-between just mimicking sounds and actually trying to communicate with the people around him and he can be quite adorable to watch when he does so.

Like most people, Einstein’s owners follow a nighttime routine. In this clip, Einstein can be seen perched on top of the shower wall (one of his favorite perches aside from the kitchen and his screened-in back porch) and having a funny conversation with his owner, who he calls “Marcia Melon,” a hilarious nickname that he bestowed on her for whatever reason.
He starts by asking, “Wanna go night?” And this starts an adorable back-and-forth about his owner’s nighttime routine.
He also asks, “Wanna take a shower?” And his owner replies, “I just finished.
” Then Einstein follows up with, “Do you wanna cuddle?” At least he knows to wait until his owner has finished taking a shower before asking for a cuddle!Einstein is quite popular in social media with channels on YouTube @einsteinparrot, Instagram @einsteinparrot, Twitter @einsteinparrot, and Facebook @einsteintexanparrot. He is both silly and smart and his amazing talking skills has seen him mimic animal sounds, having conversations with his owners, and generally being silly. It’s so entertaining to watch and you can spend hours just laughing at his antics.
His website, www.einsteinparrot.com, has a mission statement that says: “To entertain and bring joy, to foster the human-parrot bond, and to convey that parrots are deserving of immeasurable amounts of patience, nurturing, and companionship.”
But he’s not just about laughs. His website also seeks to educate people about the proper care of parrots.
In case Einstein has gotten you interested in adopting a parrot, be aware that getting a bird like this is a huge investment in time and money.
For one, they need large cages so that they can freely move around. They also need a lot of perches and toys to entertain them so that they don’t get bored.Parrots that can get bored can become very temperamental, much like having a toddler who’s having tantrums.
This is why they require a lot of companionship and attention as well as specialized veterinarian care and nutrition. It’s sad that some parrots end up being neglected because people who got them weren’t aware of how much commitment was involved.
