Parts Of Newly Installed Impenetrable Wall Were Blown Over By Strong Gust Of Wind

Newly installed panels from the US-Mexico border wall have fallen over due to strong gust of winds, making it lean over to the side of Mexico.

According to Agent Carlos Pitones of the Customs and Border Protection sector, the fallen sections are part of an ongoing construction project to enhance the durability of the wall, CNN reported.

Pitones also said that the concrete had not yet cured and the panels couldn’t withstand the strong windy conditions.

Gusts of wind around 48km/h (30mph) were reported at that time, according to the US National Weather service.

“We are grateful there was no property damage or injuries,” Pitones said to the US news channel.

Pitones told the LA Times: “Luckily, Mexican authorities responded quickly and were able to divert traffic from the nearby street.”

He said that it is not clear how long the construction work in the area will need to be halted to clean up the mess.

President Donald Trump said in a September interview: “I wanted them to show you the interior of parts of the wall and what’s inside of each individual slat. And you’ll see it’s a combination of steel, concrete, and – as one of the folks just said – it really is virtually impenetrable.

“Any walls that were put up would get knocked down very quickly, very easily. This wall is not something that can be really knocked down.”

Earlier this year, reports said that the administration had constructed around 100 miles of new wall but much of this has replaced previous structures.

According to a former administration official, the White House has pushed for construction on the border to be called new wall.

Mark Morgan, Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner, said he feels “no pressure from the administration to build more miles of wall.”
