Along with break out of the Coronavirus, there is another virus that is taking over China and it is spreading like fire too. Avian influenza, commonly called the bird flu has already killed more thousands of birds and is spreading.
The officials at the airport denied the man to take the birds home because of the possible risk of bird flu spreading through these birds and this was a non-negotiable risk that they could not take.
CBP’s Baltimore Field Office’s Director of Field Operations, Casey Durst said: “Entry of birds from China is prohibited in the USA because the importation of this birds can inculcate a risk of Avian influenza spreading out in the country affecting the poultry industry and it can also show possible effects on human with the virus spreading from birds to humans.
”
He added, “Customs and Border Protection agriculture specialists are working hard each day to protect the country from getting any kind of virus in and bringing these birds in the borders would just give out a major risk of spread of the virus and the nation is not ready to take the risk ever.”
