Recently, a female accused a general practitioner, Dr.
Raj Mehta of touching her breast during the consultation. The doctor has been in the U.K’s National Health Service (NHS) for around 40 years.
The patient stated that the doctor touched her breast while the consultation was nothing to do with the breasts. It was found that the doctor has also been accused of two sexual assaults in the past, too. The General Medical Council of the U.K. revoked the practitioner’s right to practice.
However, the practitioner appealed to the court and won the fact that he did not touch the breasts of that patient during the consultation.
It was proved that the patient had put false accusations of sexual assault. She lied under oath. It is said that the final judgement will be taken in the New Year.
Dr. Mehta stated that he feels like he lost his reputation, career, and everything after his conviction. It felt as if the 40 years of service at the NHS went in vain. The practitioner said that he has been ridiculously lost his reputation over the media coverage and social media platforms.
It has also been decided to strike off the practitioner from the medical register. He claimed that there is no safeguard for the doctors against the patients who put false accusations.
He also said that as doctors, they give their best in all kinds of circumstances but the protections are inadequate for them.
One of the doctors also supported Dr. Mehta and said that the practitioner and his family are now out of the false accusation.
He also added that he is proud to support him and his family. Moreover, such allegations are dis-heartening for the doctor as the doctor-patient bond is vital.
It took a lot of work for the lawyer who represented the practitioner to prove the fact that there was no sexual assault done by the practitioner.
The lawyer, Richardson also added that the long and hard work of the practitioner for around 40years has been destroyed just because of some false allegations.
He just hoped that the British government would pass new reforms to help do justice with the practitioner.
