“We all know that pets can sometimes be just what the doctor ordered. So when we heard from Groves Community Hospice that they had a resident whose only wish was to snuggle some kittens, we couldn’t say no,” the Great Plains SPCA spokesperson said.
And so, the rescue center partnered with the GC Hospice to grant Carol’s dying wish.
On the day of the surprise, Carol appeared overwhelmed when the staff walked in with a bunch of kittens. The elderly woman, however, wasn’t the only one to benefit from the encounter.
Surely, the kittens, who are all rescues, loved to have some bonding with loving people who couldn’t resist cuddling with them.
“Kittens are angels with whiskers. They are precious… adorable,” Carol said.
As the Great Plains SPCA explained, they work with several homes for the elderly in order to provide the residents with an opportunity to meet rescue animals and bond with them. Sometimes, these animals also get adopted in return.
In addition, such activities are great for rescue animals because they help them acclimate to human beings.
