James Corden Teared Up As Sir Paul McCartney Revealed Origins Behind The Beatles Hit ‘Let It Be’


Sir Paul McCartney made an appearance on Carpool Karaoke segment of ’The Late Late Show’.

The 76-year-old  shared the origins behind his smash hit ‘Let It Be’ and brought talk show host, James Corden into tears.

The segment starts with Corden sitting in his car before making a phone call and channelling one of The Beatles’ best-known hits.

He says: “I’m in Liverpool, and I need your help. Yeah, I need somebody, not just anybody, please, please help me.”

Sir Paul then came into the passenger seat and the pair broke into a version of The Beatles’ classic Drive My Car. During the conversation, Sir Paul revealed he wrote his first song at the age of 14, titled I Lost My Little Girl, before treating fans to a snippet.

James said: ‘’The song touches on positivity, joy, love and togetherness, which I think is more relevant today than ever.’’

Paul responded: ‘’We expected it to last for only 10 years.’’

Then Paul shares his eye-opening dream about his mother, who passed away when he was only 14.

He says: ‘’I had a dream in the 60s about my mum, who died when I was young. She came to me and reassured me, saying “it’s going to be okay, just let it be.”

He adds: ‘’I felt so great, she gave me such positive words. She said “let it be”, so I wrote the song.’’

James says: ‘’That’s the most beautiful story I’ve ever heard’, before the pair put on an energetic display as they sang the track during their drive around Liverpool.’’

He bursts into tears and says: ‘’I remember my granddad and dad playing this song to me, and said “this is the best song you’ll ever hear,’’ he adds.

In another segment of the video the pair of two visits the songwriter’s former barbershop, where he frequently styled his signature mop-top.

Sir Paul shows James his former Liverpool home, the music room with drums and a guitar.

Corden tells him: “Your music is so full of positivity and joy and a message of love and togetherness, I feel like it’s more relevant today than it’s maybe ever been.”

James was so happy as Paul gave him a glimpse of his childhood home.

Between their conversations, James told him: ‘’If my granddad was here, he would get an absolute kick out of this before Paul sweetly commented: ‘He is’.
