The White House called on Pelosi’s act by ripping up the document, claiming she took a hit at all those honored by the president that evening.
Georgia Representative Doug Collins also stated that what Pelosi did is synonymous to her tearing up the Constitution.
However, the California Democrat defended her act, calling the speech a “Manifesto of Mistruths”.
She also stated that ripping up the speech was the “courteous thing to do considering the alternative”.
The House Speaker received criticisms from the right, calling that her action is nothing but a disrespectful act, in which she defended that it is a dirty speech.
Trump’s one hour and 20 minute speech seemed more like a campaign than an actual government address, an attention-grabbing tactic overly boasting his so-called achievements.
He proudly announced that the American economy is doing much better thanks to him, as well as his order to kill Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.
The said speech is too controversial and causes such conflict that Pelosi decided to tear it up after the President was done with his speech.
She then gave a lengthy speech justifying her act, and accused the president of misleading his claims about health care.
She also pointed out that is had no regrets about filing an impeachment case against him, as she states that the president was never truthful about his actions.
The infamous display by Pelosi was done after President Donald Trump ignored the House Speaker’s outstretched hand.
Many believed that this is his answer for Pelosi not giving him a proper introduction a speaker gives the president.
It has been a tradition for the House Speaker to say a few good words while presenting the President, but this time she only told the House, “Members of Congress, the president of the United States.”
That said moment was believed to have set the tone for the entire evening.
