A wildlife photographer has probably captured the most heart-warming moment between 2 widowed penguins.

The picture is such an adorable one because it has captured the special moment between the penguins who are comforting one another as they witness a nighttime vista.

Tobias Baumgaertner was able to photograph the duo in St Kilda, a suburb in Melbourne, in 2019. However, the snap went viral only recently after it was shared on Twitter.

Tobias shared the image on his Instagram handle last month and explained that the penguins had lost their partners and were watching the Melbourne skyline’s dancing lights together.

He wrote that during tough times like this, the lucky ones were those who could be with the people/person they love the most. And he also added that he captured the special moment almost a year back.

Tobias said that the two Fairy penguins posed upon a rock looking at the Melbourne skyline were present there for hours enjoying the view of sparkling lights of skyline and ocean.

Then, a volunteer approached the photographer and revealed that the white penguin was an elderly female who suffered the loss of her partner and so did the younger male.

Since then, the duo had been meeting regularly to comfort one another and standing for hours together while watching the lights of the city.

Tobias added that he had spent three full nights with the penguin colony until he was able to obtain the picture.

He faced a lot of struggle to photograph the perfect moment because he could not use flash or lights and the penguins were continuously moving, cleaning one another, and rubbing their flippers on their backs.

However, he got lucky during a surreal moment.

The picture has gained 1,25,000+ likes in only one day and was retweeted 39,000 times. One of the users commented that they were not planning to cry that night but after this picture, they may.
