A pensioner has taken revenge on a bully who harassed him at the school by shooting him dead at a reunion that took place 50 years after school days.
69-year-old Thanapat Anakesri joined a buffet-style reunion that his classmates organized in Ang Thong, Thailand, over 50 years after they have gone to school together.
While the party seemed to be going well for everyone, Anakesri suddenly confronted 69-year-old Suthat Kosayamat about bullying that occurred when they were both 16.
In an attempt to get an apology out of Suthat, Thanapat, a former navy officer, recalled the events that scarred him for the rest of his life.
Rather than coming up with a late apology, Suthat told his former classmate he wouldn’t apologize and alleged he didn’t remember any bullying.
After receiving no apology from Suthat, Thanapat pulled out his gun and shot his former bully before fleeing the scene.
After being rushed to the hospital, Suthat was pronounced dead and the police began the manhunt for Thanapat who ran away from his home.
“Thanapat would get drunk then often talk about how angry he was about being bullied by Suthat,” Tuean Klakang, the organizer of the reunion, told the police.
“He never forgot about it. But as these things happened such a long time ago, I would never have imagined that he would have killed his friend like this. We are all shocked by it.”
Following the shooting, Suthat’s devastated family put him to eternal sleep as they honored him with a traditional Buddhist funeral. According to them, he was a “caring and kind” man.
Speaking of what will happen to Thanapat once they find him, Police Chief Sombat Somboondee said:
“Initially, we will charge him for murder and carrying a gun without a license. We also have a lead that he is hiding in Singburi province so officers are searching the area.
“From speaking to witnesses, the shooting appears to have happened after a personal dispute between the killer and the victim from a long time ago.”
